TUG BOATS THAT GET THE JOB DONE

 =

   &= nbsp; In my 30 = years of pastoral ministry I have been privileged to pastor 3 wonderful churches.  My first pastorate = took me to Mt. Vernon, <= st1:State w:st=3D"on">Indiana to a newly formed church that = met in a house. One of the special experiences that I carried away with me from th= is pastorate and still think about is riding a tug boat down the Ohio River.  Frank Hob= bs, the river captain, had the responsibility of transporting heavy logs, machinery, and soybeans down the Ohio River into the Wallbash River and eventually down the Mississippi River to various destinations.  These supplies were transported da= ily on engineless barges pushed down stream by a tugboat.  Without the assistance of these tu= gboats the barges would be useless in fulfilling their expected work.

     Using this metap= hor of a tugboat and barge I want to emph= asize the importance of providing Christian education for today’s children and youth.  God commands Christian parents to provide a Bible-based education for their children from birth to maturity (Ephesians 6:4). Christian school bar= ges are loaded with children and teens that are being taught a Christian world = view rather than the myths and lies of evolution.  A biblical based education provide= s each student help in answering the difficult questions of life.  Christian schools provide numerous spiritual, academic, and social benefits which pay dividends for life and eternity.  A Christ-centered Christian school philosophy nurtures positive peer pressure and fosters a caring and safe environment.  Christian schools also develop Christian leadership and patriotism. Teachers who love the Lord, the church, and their students are able to see = the eternal worth of each student while providing each of them adequate attenti= on and positive mentoring.

     The members of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church are committed to the trai= ning of future Christian leaders at Fayetteville Street Christian School. In order to= keep tuition affordable and pay our bills FSBC need consistent, unrestricted giv= ing from those who have a heart for Christian education.  The student’s tuition paymen= t pays 60% of the school’s operational expenses while the remaining 40% must come in by our fundraisers and private donors.  We urgently need more willing tugb= oats (or donors) to give us a much needed push. In our giving we are banding together as one big, giant tugboat pushing forward the great Fayetteville Street Christian School barge that’s loaded with God’s cargo of this world’s finest teens and tomorrow’s Christian leaders.

     Now you may be s= aying “but my gift is too small and isn’t needed”.  Please remember that behind every = gift (large or small) is a caring, praying heart.  Your gift added to the next person’s gift and to the next will help us push the FSCS barge forw= ard.  There is STRENGTH in numbers. King Solomon realized the need for teamwork in his networking of many people gro= ups while building the temple= of God.<= /span>

     Because I believ= e in what our school is doing and that this is God’s work I am asking you to pray about be= ing a “tugboat” for the FSCS Barge. A one time gift of any amount w= ill communicate to the Pastor, Church, School Committee, Staff, and Students th= at you are standing with us.  If = you are unable to give at this time it= is equally important that you dai= ly pray for our school and for God’s work in the hearts and lives of= our students.

     Every prayer off= ered and every dollar given is an investment into the lives of our young people = and America= ’s future.  THANK YOU for your pa= rt in helping us push the FSCS barge upstream. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Un= til He Comes,

Pa= stor Bruce
